News travels fast over at the Capitol. Except when it doesn’t.
A newsroom colleague noticed that Texas Legislature Online, the official repository of all things about those 182 officeholders over there (including the lite governor, who presides over the Senate), still lists a 183rd member: David Dewhurst. On the Senate part of the site, under “members,” Dewhurst is still hanging around as an entry. Click on the name and you see only that “legislator has not been assigned to any committees.”
Perhaps they’re keeping him listed just in case, later in the session, there’s a tough fight over bringing a bill to the floor. You get that 19th vote wherever you can….
